The Ordinary Hyaluronic Serum

The Ordinary hyaluronic serum with 2% pure hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 is a hydrating booster intended for all skin types, especially dry. After testing, I concluded that this product is definitely not their favorite, mostly because I’m not a big fan of hyaluronic serums in general. They leave a film on the skin, are sticky, remain on the surface of the skin, and therefore often do not work well with the cream that comes after them. Still, this serum combined with the cream on my skin worked well.
Hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin because it binds water and thus maintains its moisture, while vitamin B5 (panthenol) hydrates, soothes and regenerates the skin. The serum contains hyaluronic acids of different molecular masses, with those with a high molecular weight acting superficially, while those with a lower mass penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Sodium Hyaluronate, Pentylene Glycol, Propanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Panthenol, Ahnfeltia Concinna Extract, Glycerin, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Citric Acid, Isoceteth-20, Ethoxydiglyl-Hexyl-glycol, Ethyl, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol.
The list of ingredients is quite short, which is recommended for sensitive skin. It contains phenoxyethanol and does not contain perfume, alcohol or silicones.
It is applied in the morning and in the evening on the cleansed face before the cream. As with all serums with hyaluronic acid, the texture is thick and sticky, but it spreads easily and is completely absorbed into the skin in a short time. Given the very dense texture, it leaves a very thin sticky film, much lighter than I expected.
After this serum, a cream must be applied because otherwise, it tightens the skin. So it works well with the cream and not on its own, with the proviso that I have to point out that sometimes after applying the cream it “crumbles”. You can prevent this by exfoliating the skin with an acid tonic before applying the serum and cream and without applying too much product. If this continues to happen, stop using it, because hyaluronic serums tend to form a film on the skin, which then cannot absorb the moisturizer which is then applied and it “crumbles”.
The serum leaves the skin soft, hydrated, and elastic. Since this serum, like all The Ordinary products, is very affordable, I will definitely buy it again because it is equal in quality, if not better than the competition, and its price is significantly cheaper. The summary is that this is a solid hyaluronic serum, nothing exciting, but still welcome in everyday care. You can also use it in the door area.
It is produced in Canada, the company does not test on animals and the composition is vegan.
