Probiotics in cosmetics

Our skin is home to a huge number of bacteria and fungi that coexist on it and protect it from harmful external influences (UV radiation, pollution …). When the balance of good and bad bacteria is disturbed, certain disorders and unwanted skin conditions occur. This means that we have to somehow help the good bacteria to return to normal percentages on the skin. Then probiotics appear on the scene, which are actually friendly living microorganisms that help restore balance and thus strengthen the skin’s protective barrier.
Current European legislation limits the number of microorganisms that the formula can have and replaces them in cosmetics with lysates or probiotic extracts, which means that these bacteria are broken down or inactivated, so they are no longer living microorganisms. The use of probiotics in the cosmetics industry is relatively new, but more and more research confirms the improvement of the skin after their use (eczema, rosacea …).
The ProSkin product line from the Croatian manufacturer Sensapharm, among others, contains lysates of the probiotics Lactococcus and Bifidobacterium, which supply skin cells with nutrients and help the process of restoring the skin barrier. All products from the line are free of parabens, artificial colors and fragrances and dermatologically tested. I have to commend the manufacturer for a really studious approach to the choice of ingredients and their transparent and detailed description and description of how they work, all so that customers are completely sure of what they are buying and applying to their skin.
ProSkin daily anti-age cream
ProSkin day cream intensively hydrates and regenerates the skin of the face and neck and is intended for anti-age care of all skin types. It contains glycerin, sunflower seed oil, grape seed oil, olive oil, retinol ester – vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate), vitamin E, probiotic lysates (Lactococcus Ferment Lysate and Bifida Ferment Lysate), milk protein, shea butter, hyaluronic acid borage oil and linoleic and linolenic acid, ie vitamin F.
The lysates of the probiotics Bifidobacterium and Lactococcus effectively stimulate the skin’s immune system, as well as the process of its renewal. Probiotics in the ProSkin line are found in the form of lysates, cellular fragments of bacterial strains that, unlike live bacteria, do not have the problem of difficult colonization of the desired area due to severe external conditions and are more stable.
Bifidobacterium supplies skin cells with various nutrients (proteins, peptides, vitamins …) needed to produce new molecules and energy. They stimulate skin exfoliation and participate in the removal and reuse of cellular waste in the process of detoxification of the surface layer of the skin. They are also responsible for creating a protective layer on the surface of the skin that can significantly reduce the level of harmful effects of UV radiation on the skin.
Lactococcus activates the skin’s natural defense mechanism and participates in the activation of various enzymes on the surface of the skin by which it becomes firmer and more resistant to external influences.
It also contains hydrating hyaluronic acid, and Vitamin F (linoleic and linolenic fatty acid) supports the renewal of the surface layer of the skin and helps urea maintain the optimal level of moisture, elasticity and maintain the balance of fatty acids in the skin. Linolenic acid, thanks to its anti-inflammatory effect, significantly contributes to the reduction of symptoms such as redness of the skin in dermatitis and contributes to skin hydration.
It also contains retinol (vitamin A), a powerful anti-aging ingredient, and shea butter, which deeply nourishes and regenerates the skin.
Ingredients: Aqua Purificata, Glycerin, Helianthus annuus Seed Oil, Glycine Soybean Oil, Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil, Olea Europaea Husk Oil, Tocopherol, Retinyl Palmitate and Cholecalciferol, Lactococcus Ferment Lysate, Lactose, Milk Protein, Bifida Parisy Ferment Lys ) butter, coco-caprylate, Glyceryl stearate SE, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Hyaulornate, Brag Officinalis Seed Oil, Lauroyl Lysine, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Stearoyl glutamate, Sodium phytate, Glyceryl caprylate, Linoleic Acid, Linolenic Acid, Hydroxyacetophenone, Benzyl alcohol, dehydroacetic acid.
The cream has a milky texture and spreads easily and absorbs quickly, without leaving an oily film on the skin. Initially, I used it on my own in the morning on cleansed skin of the face and neck, however as my skin is extremely dry, I introduced a preliminary application of the serum. After applying the cream, the skin is elastic, nourished and is a good base for make-up, ie liquid powder. In addition to hydrating, the cream soothed the skin and reduced redness and filled dehydration wrinkles. The packaging is hygienic, you dose the desired amount of cream by pushing the lid of the container without fear of contamination of the product, and such packaging maintains its freshness longer. The cream is a good price-quality ratio (quality dermocosmetic composition and packaging) and if you want to support Croatian producers with your purchase, then it is a great choice.

ProSkin Moisturizing Body Lotion
ProSkin moisturizing body lotion is intended for the care of dry and very dry body skin. According to the manufacturer, it helps with the symptoms of dry and very dry skin and in the restoration of damaged and irritated skin prone to redness and itching.
In addition to the already mentioned probiotic lysates Bifidobacterium and Lactococcus that stimulate the skin’s immune system, as well as the process of renewal of the desired skin area, the lotion contains borage oil which has anti-inflammatory action and improves skin barrier function and vitamin F (linoleic and linolenic fatty acid).
It contains linolenic acid, which has an anti-inflammatory and soothing effect, and shea butter, which deeply nourishes and regenerates the skin. Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) supplementation protects the skin barrier and has a calming effect.
The lotion also contains amaranth oil, which is rich in squalene. Squalene helps the skin retain moisture by making it smooth and elastic, and recent research suggests that squalene can also be used to treat skin disorders, such as seborrheic dermatitis, acne, psoriasis or atopic dermatitis.
Ingredients: Aqua, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Oil, Glycerin, Lactococcus Ferment Lysate, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Sheacyl Nocyate Butter, Nitra, Flower) Extract CO2, Lonoleic Acid (and) Linolenic Acid, Ceteareth 20, Lactic Acid, Sodium PCA, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.
I applied the lotion after washing on dry and clean body skin. The texture is light, absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy film on the skin. I like its texture is not too thick so it smears easily. It completely removed the feeling of tightness and dryness of the skin throughout the day and I didn’t have to wait for it to soak in to get dressed. The packaging is excellent, the desired amount is dosed by light pressure on the pump.

ProSkin cream with 10% urea
ProSkin cream is intended for the care of dry and very dry skin of the face and body. According to the manufacturer, the cream contains a new generation of urea (10%) which has better hydrating properties, while not having an intense odor and does not cause burning when exposed to treated areas with UV rays.
Urea is a humectant that has the ability to bind water and hydrate the skin and slow down the loss of moisture from the product during use, and also helps to restore and remove dead skin cells.
Like the entire line, the cream contains probiotic lysates of Bifidobacterium and Lactococcus, as well as urea, sunflower seed oil, soy, grapes, olives, vitamin E, retinyl, shea butter, milk protein, borage oil and phenoxyethanol.
Ingredients: Aqua Purificata, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Helianthus annuus Seed Oil, Glycine Soybean Oil, Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil, Olea Europaea Husk Oil, Tocopherol, Retinyl Palmitate and Cholecalciferol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Lactococcus Ferment Bifida Ferment Lysate, Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Sodium Cetearyl Sulfate, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Sodium stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexyglycerin, Carbomer, Propylene glycol, Linoleic acid.
The cream has a thick, milky texture. It is applied to cleansed skin of the face and / or body that needs additional care of dry and very dry parts of the body caused by a damaged skin barrier (due to pressure and friction) which then cannot retain hydration. I applied it to exposed parts of the face when I did outdoor activities because it protected my skin from the cold and wind and after washing on clean skin of elbows, feet and hands. After the first application, you will notice that the cream has nourished and restored dry and rough skin, and that it is smoother, less rough and more elastic. After a week of application, in the evening before going to bed, the skin of the feet was almost completely restored and it became softer and smoother from cracked, thickened and very dry.
