Kiehl’s serum – a price that the composition does not justify

Kiehl’s is an American brand popular all over the world, and it is especially impressive that it has existed since 1851. It used to be one of my favorite brands, but today it is no more. There are several reasons for that, I think that their formulas or composition are outdated because they use a lot of questionable ingredients, which today are easily replaced by less harmful ones, and that their products are simply too expensive for the formulations they offer.
Still, for the good old days, I gave a chance to Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturing Serum Concentrate, one of their bestsellers. What I liked most about the Hydro-Plumping serum is its non-sticky texture. Unlike this, with some hydrating serums I have a feeling that they are not absorbed into the skin, but create a rubbery, sticky film, which bothers me especially.
It contains 15% glycerin and a lot of silicone, but also the extract of the shiso plant (penultimate on the list of ingredients), which is a powerful antioxidant and protects the skin from free radicals, and soothes it. The serum gives a feeling of exceptional hydration, the skin is smooth (due to silicone) and is a great base for make-up.
Immediately after application, you will feel a wave of refreshment, and the skin looks smooth and small wrinkles are filled.
The composition is debatable, a lot of glycerin and silicone, preservatives, and the price is quite high, 394 kuna. It should be taken into account that it is also slightly larger in size, 50 ml, because serums usually come in packs of 30 ml. I also like the packaging because the packaging with the pump best doses the quantities.
Composition:
Aqua, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Propanediol, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Butylene Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Citrate, P-Anisic Acid, Disodium Edta, Peg-10 Dimethicone, Sodium Hydroxide, Adencyide Extra, Peritoneum.
This product does not contain the hyaluronic acid you expect in advance in hydrating serums. The base is glycerin which is a natural moisturizer, and silicones smooth the skin. It is applied before the cream.
Kiehl’s moisturizing serum is watery-milky in texture, immediately absorbed into the skin, and the packaging is practical.
If you are trying to follow the trend of pure cosmetics and avoid products with silicones, then this serum is not for you.
Don’t forget that Kiehl’s stores will gladly take empty packages of their products and you will be rewarded for it.
